Uno Punto Cinco was founded in December 2019 by Benjamín Carvajal as an Instagram account aimed at educating in simple terms about the complexities of the climate crisis, both scientifically and politically. It was in the context of COP25, where citizen interest in climate change grew significantly in Chile, evidencing a clear urgency in the need for action.

The crucial question was how can we demand greater commitment from society to climate action if we have not ensured that the problem is adequately understood? Do we all really understand the magnitude of the challenge we face?

In order to encourage greater climate action, we analyzed what factors motivate people to get involved. We realized that those who work on action are those who feel empowered. This empowerment comes from knowledge about a problem. To sow greater knowledge, it is essential to start with education . This is how Uno Punto Cinco was born as a platform on climate change, recognizing that education is a transformative tool.

Just 3 months later, after an excellent reception on social media, our vision evolved: we no longer wanted to be just an Instagram account, but to become an organization that promoted climate action from youth. By August 2020, we had 56 volunteers from 10 countries, organized into more than 8 teams focused on education, communications, advocacy and campaigns.
